Eat Like a Local
Cuisine in the South of France is dominated by Provencal dishes, characterised by the use of aromatic herbs, olive oil and lots of seafood . Each town in the region has a specific dish, for example in Avignon it’s mussels and garlic, in Marseille it’s Bouillabaisse and in the Camargue everyone enjoys red rice.
Enjoying the Area
There is more to the south of France than superb beaches and seafood. Provence is packed with magnificent examples of Roman architecture including the Roman Amphitheatre in Nimes and the Pont du Gard, an aqueduct built in the 1st Century AD over the River Gard. Other attractions include Cathar castles, with the finest example in Foix. For a fun family day out in the South of France, Aqualand has a choice of water park locations at St. Cyprien, Port Leucate and Cap d’Agde.
Getting There
The quickest route to the Cote d'Azur from the UK and Ireland is via the international airport at Nice. There are also daily flights from UK airports to Marseilles and Nimes. However, self-drive via the channel ports is a viable option with an overnight stop en route adding to the holiday experience.

“This was our second time at La Garangeoire. The Campsite itself was super safe, completely chilled out and immaculately clean. We were delighted to see Sue & Richard still there. They are so helpful and a real pleasure to deal with. Nothing is too much trouble for them. There is plenty for the kids to do day and evening and every where on the site is safe for the kids of all ages. We really had such a fantastic time and would highly recommend La Garangeoire.”

The campsite La Torre del Sol was very clean. I was highly impressed with the high level of maintenance of the grass & grounds. The staff at reception & in all the restaurants / bars couldn’t have been more kind & helpful. The mobile home was very clean & neat. I felt very secure & safe on the premises.
