Camping in Rome is a great way to experience the country’s many charms. It can be a fun and affordable vacation option, and campsites are available to suit all types of holidays. Whether you want a beach holiday or to venture out into the countryside, there is a perfect camping spot for you in Rome.
Italians are well known for their love of children, meaning that on a family holiday in Rome finding things to do with the children will never be a problem. Children are encouraged to dine in fine restaurants, appreciate art and be themselves.
A family holiday in Rome can be both educational and fun for your children. For example, we recommend that our family campers try riding the small train on Pincio Hill and visit the fountain, where local children splash around in the water to cool down on a hot day.

When sightseeing gets too much for the children, there are plenty of things to keep them entertained. Rome’s Bioparco, the city zoo, is a huge safari adventure park on the outskirts of Villa Borghese Park. For a really fun day, head out to Zoomarine where all the family can see exotic birds, dolphins and sea lions before splashing around in the park’s swimming pools.
Dining out with children in Italy is generally very easy. Many restaurateurs welcome children like they are special guests. Italian cuisine is replicated all over the world, but is naturally at its best in Italy and Rome is no exception.
We highly recommend that you escape the campsite for a night or two and seek out family-owned establishments which offer affordable traditional Italian dishes, including delicious pizza and pasta and the delicious 'gelato' (ice creams). There are plenty to choose from!
Rome has two major airports, Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) and Ciampino, with flights provided by several airlines including EasyJet, Ryanair, British Airways and Aer Lingus.
The weather in Rome is perfect for a camping holiday, with long hot summers and mild winters. July and August are the hottest months with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius, while June and September offer slightly cooler weather which is still perfect for days by the pool or on the beach.
The best time to go camping in Rome is during the summer months when the weather is at its hottest. However, if you are looking for a quieter camping holiday, go earlier in May or June.
As part of our commitment to providing great value to our customers, we do not provide some of the linens. This not only helps to keep the cost down for you but also helps you and your children to feel more at home. You will need to take your sheets and pillowcases although we can arrange for you to hire bed linen at most campsites. We provide pillows, blankets and/or duvets at all campsites. You will also need to take towels, tea towels and cleaning materials, and you can readily buy the latter in the campsite shops. Taking a box of matches for lighting gas hob burners and heater pilot lights is always helpful.
Apart from that, we provide everything you need for cooking and enjoying meals at home. You can see our full inventory on our mobile home page.
You'll also need something to take photos with. You won't want to miss a thing. We are always happy to be tagged in your photos. Please mention us @EuroResorts on Facebook and @Euro_Resorts on Twitter
